Tēnā tātou e te whānau,
School has been a hive of activity during the first few weeks. We have especially designed learning opportunities to maximise learning about ourselves, each other and important routines. It's really important that we slow down to speed up. In the same way that we crawl before we can walk, we have to get everything in place first.
Our Learning Conferences were an opportunity to discuss learning priorities for your child/ren and to set goals to work on together. Thank you all for making this important time. If you weren't able to make them, please see your child's classroom teacher to make a time.
At Winchester School, our commitment to the new "One Hour a Day" policy in reading, writing, and mathematics is not new – we're already doing it successfully. Our 2023 progress and achievement data shows this:
Over the past 2 years, we have been learning and embedding the latest pedagogy in Literacy and Mathematics to ensure we achieve great results - integrating learning across the curriculum, and providing the following:
This statement affirms our dedication to maintaining and enhancing our successful teaching practices in alignment with the "One Hour a Day" policy.

STRATEGIC PLAN AND NEW VISUALS
We have been working with Freedom Print to update the signs around our school and I am excited to share with you the new and improved designs for our street signs. There are slightly different versions being created for the map signs, Harrow Street entrance and New Castle Street entrance. A mihi to Dr Rawiri Taonui, Bede Gilmore, Brad Te Kamo and Craig Kawana for your creativity and expertise in bringing these concepts to life. Attached below is also our 2024-25 Strategic Improvement Plan that will outline the direction we will be taking for the next two years.
