Upcoming events at school |
UPCOMING EVENTS Please check the calendar as there are a lot of events coming up in the next few weeks. COMMUNITY PICNIC All families of our school are invited to attend a welcome back picnic which will include a BBQ run by helpers from the PTA. You can offer to help by filling in this form. The picnic is held on the main field/playground area and the school pool will be open. Children must be supervised by their parents if they are swimming. A bouncy castle might go up if the weather permits too, thanks to the PTA. The picnic starts from 5.30pm on Wednesday 17 February. Bring some cash. > Burgers $3 > Sausage $ 1 > Ice block $1 Halal food will be available for purchase too. A coffee cart will be on site too. LOST PROPERTY There is already a growing collection of swimming gear and clothing left at the pool. If you are a pool user, please collect your items as you leave, thank you. OFFICE HOURS Nicky begins each day at 8.30am and is in the office until 3.30pm each day. KA PAI TOMAS Tomas in Room 7 held a plant sale on the weekend and has done a great job of propagating and growing vegetables and succulents. I enjoyed my visit to the plant shop on Saturday. Thank you Tomas and whānau. NEW STAFFROOM KITCHEN
Over the holidays we were lucky enough to have a new kitchen installed in the staffroom. The staff are very grateful to the Board who supported this project as it has helped ease congestion at morning tea time in particular. We can now move around a central “island” to get that much needed tea or coffee each break time. Nāku noa, nā Bede Gilmore Tumuaki |

PĀNUI FROM NIC
Kia Ora koutou, it has been so nice to see everybody back after the summer break. There is a mixture of excitement and nerves as we are settling back into routine, getting used to new spaces and faces, routines and expectations. Please let us know if we are able to assist in any way with this transition.
Our new Road Patrol team are doing a fantastic job ensuring we are able to cross the road safely. For our new whānau, the system of road patrol goes like this:
Caller 1 stands on the school side and calls: "Signs out... Check"
Caller 2 stands on the opposite side of the school and calls: "Clear"
Caller 1 then calls: "Cross now". This is when it is safe for you and your whānau to start crossing the road.
I also notice that there have been a few close calls as the traffic begins to move after being stopped, heading towards the Ruahine Street bend. There is a mixture of cars carrying on straight (and wanting to speed up to 50kms) and cars wanting to turn into the church carpark across the road. Please be wary of this, give people behind you plenty of warning as you are leading up to the turn.
Thanks for your cooperation with this.
