WINCHESTER SCHOOL PĀNUI
Term  1 - Week  1 - Thursday 4th February 2021

Kia ora e te whānau.

Upcoming events at school

Nau mai hoki mai.
Welcome back everyone. If you are new to Winchester School this year, then a very warm welcome to you and your whānau.
We welcomed new students and their families this morning at our mihi whakatau. New staff - Paula Christian, Kate Marshall, Deena Parr and Jo Johnston were welcomed a few days ago when we met as a staff.
To all new students, whānau and staff, nau mai haere mai. It is wonderful to you as part of the Winchester School community.

A reminder that next Monday is a public holiday due to Waitangi Day being observed, so school is closed.

START OF YEAR KORERO
Please go to https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code?code=uvrgx and use the code uvrgx to book a time to meet with your child’s teacher on either Wednesday 10th February or Thursday 11th February. This is your chance to introduce yourself and to tell us important information about your child.

SWIMMING
All classes will be using the school pool for swimming lessons. Please send your child with gear each day to allow them to take part. If a child is unwell and cannot swim, please make contact with your teacher to explain this. Swimming is a compulsory part of the NZ curriculum and students should not be withdrawn from the programme.

SUNHATS
These were distributed today so all children have a hat to wear at morning tea and interval. Hats must be the proper school hat. Please see Nicky in the office if you would like to purchase one.

COMMUNITY PICNIC
All families of our school are invited to attend a welcome back picnic which will include a BBQ run by helpers from the PTA. The picnic is held on the main field/playground area and the school pool will be open. Children must be supervised by their parents if they are swimming.
The picnic starts from 5.30pm on Wednesday 17 February.

SCHOOL DOCS
Winchester School uses SchoolDocs to maintain a comprehensive, up-to-date, set of policies and procedures. These policies and procedures follow guidelines and legislation and best practice, and have been tailored for our school. For more information about SchoolDocs, see schooldocs.co.nz.
The principal, board of trustees, and members of our school community all have access to SchoolDocs. This section highlights information of particular interest to parents and whanāu. (SchoolDocs uses the term "parents" to refer to parents and caregivers. Sometimes, whānau is also used.)
Go to http://winchester.schooldocs.co.nz The login for our community is Winchester and the password is Ruahine. We advise you when a policy is being reviewed and how to access it.
